About the FITS Center
History La Union is the regional center of all the National Government Agencies. The Provincial Government thru the present administration of the Honorable Governor Manuel C. Ortega wants that all constituents to become aware and well informed. Thus, there’s a need for modernization in the field of Information Technology specially concerning to agriculture sector.
The establishment of the OPAG FITS Center is one of the center of learning among stakeholders, especially farmers and fisherfolks, students, researchers and even from the private sectors to seek the latest information on: crop production and management, diversification of crops, Integrated Farming, etc. Being the Honey Capital of the North, the province adopted “HONEY” as the provincial One Town One Product (OTOP). The center of Honey Bee Production in cooperation with the National Apiculture Research and Training Development Institute (NARTDI) based at Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University-North La Union Campus (DMMMSU-NLUC) at Sapilang, Bacnotan, La Union; the Provincial Government of La Union and the 19 local government units and 1 city.
Mission
To educate farmers with the recent trend of Farm Development through the use of Information Communication Technology (ICT) facilities; provide them the current issues revolving in their respective fields of concern; realizes and analyzed; to achieve profitability, productivity and sustainability for all.
Vision
Visualizes the skillful capability, managerial and developmental aspirations through the resourceful use of modern information and technology, seminars available, and accessible for all in the farming sector, the processors, traders, entrepreneur, extension workers and researchers, foresighting the impact of alleviating the living standard of each stakeholders.
