About the FITS Center
History The City of San Fernando, La Union Farmers’ Information and Technology Service (FITS) Center established in December 2006 is hosted by the City Environment and Natural Resources Office. . The Center is headed by Mr. Valmar M. Valdez, FITS Manager accompanied by Mr. Celso H. Jucutan and Ms. Annalyn C. Rosario as ISS and TTS respectively. Programs of the Center are being supported by PCARRD, ILARRDEC, DENR as the PMA and PGLU FITS among others. As part of the project, a Science & Technology-based bamboo farm was established in the city. The farm is located at Barangay Cabarsican and it is being maintained by Mr. Henry Ariz Nullar as the Magsasaka Siyentista. In addition, for the city side another S&T-based bamboo farm was established at Barangay Namtutan to be managed by Mr. Martin Ortiza. To further support the projects, the City Government awarded Php 50,000.00 In 2007, the Center served and or visited by one hundred eighty clients (180). Information materials such as flyers, brochures, leaflets on agriculture and environmental management are readily available at the Center. In addition, the clients can freely access information regarding agriculture and other related topics through the internet.
MissionTo provide the latest information and technology on agriculture, fishery and other related sectors that are essential materials to achieve profitability, productivity and sustainability for all.
VisionAs a major source of information and technology services that are accessible for all especially the farmers, processors, traders, entrepreneurs and other extension workers to emporter and guide them in the critical decision making on production, processing, trading and marketing activities.
