About the FITS Center

  History /Background

                 The Farmers Information Technology Service (FITS) is a program of PCARRD under the Techno Gabay Program introduced to us by ILARRDEC through the Regional Technology Promotion"s Group Coordinator  Mr. Leonardo T. Pascua and headed by consortium Director Dr. Stanley Malab aimed at enhancing human resources capability through active cooperation aand partnership not only with the local Government Unit but also with Non-Government and Foreign Organizations.  It is composed of 17 attached agencies that cater to the needs of our constituents by serving as one stop shop of technology information in agriculture, fisshery, forestry and natural resources.

               The Bacnotan FITS center was launched in a fitting rites last May 18, 2006 at the sprawling Bacnotan Agri-Training Center located at barangay Bacsil, bacnotan, La Union.  It is 3 kilometers south of the town proper where the Municipal Agriculturist Office is located. Because of the distance and to give more access to farmers and to the clienteles, the FITS center was transfered to the Municipal Agriculture Office six (6) months after launching. It is now located at the first floor of the Legislative Building besides the Bacnotan Town Hall.

                The FITS staff of Bacnotan is composed of able aand competent people ready to render technical and other related services to clienteles with the full support of the Local Chief Executive and the mebers of the Legislative of the municipality.

                For ready reference and to dessiminate the importance of FITS, various reading materials such as researc compilation, posters,fliers technology hand outs and other reading materials related to agricuclture provided by the different attached agencies,experts are available and displayed in the center for our clienteles, agricultural products aand related items are on hand for sale to our constituents.

                We are deeply committed to develop and promote Bacnotan FITS  as an Agricucltural and Industrial  center through hardworking in utilizing resources in order to increase productivity and income on a sustainable basis by providing technical, social aand economic support services to our constituents.
