About the FITS Center
History The Local Government Unit of Pasuquin launched its new informationtechnology which is called Farmers Information and Technology Services Center (FITS Center) or Techno Pinoy Center. The launching of the FITS center was held on December 18, 2006 at the Municipal Agriculture Office, Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte. Present during the launching were employees from the office of the Municipal Agriculture, Office of the Municipal Mayor, Sanggunian Bayan Member, some farmers of the different barangays, and guest were Staff of ROS-2 Batac City. The Regional Techno Gabay Coordinator Leonardo T. Pascua and Consortium Director of ILARRDEC, Dr. Stanley C. Malab presented the Techno Gabay Program, and the Memorandum of Agreement signing was done during the FITS launching.
Three MAO personnel were selected as FITS staff, one manager, one TSS, one ISS, and one selected farmer of barangay Sulongan as Magsasaka Siyentista (MS). Two Staff from the CRC –CODA were selected as Partner Member Agency of FITS Pasuquin, 1 Technical Expert and 1 Focal Person. The FITS Center properly symbolizes the opening of the services in the municipality to provide information & communication, education, and the needs of the farmers about the newest farming technologies.

Balantac, in Barangay Sulongan, Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte, an area of 1,000 square meters for organic garlic vegetable and 1, 250 square meters for organic garlic bulb production. Objectives: * Help garlic producers increase their income. * Provide garlic producers with other production technology. * Enhance sustainability of garlic production to supply quality and safe vegetable in the market. Garlic is the focus commodity of LGU-Pasuquin. This is one of the most important cash crops and the most profitable one during the dry season in the municipality. Garlic is not only popular as a condiment for many dishes because of its flavor and spicy aroma but also because of its medicinal value for wounds, toothache, high blood pressure, leprosy, and asthma and etc. Considering the many dishes benefits that could be derived in its production, several joint efforts of both local and national agencies have bee undertaken to intensify garlic production in the locality.
