Bamboo Farmer Adopters' Training Held
To strengthen community-based farming on the production of quality bamboo poles in Ilocos Norte, two training-seminars were conducted among bamboo growers in Ilocos Norte last March 17 and 19, 2015 at the ILAARRDEC - One Stop Information Shop.
A collaborative effort of the Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU), Ilocos Agriculture, Aquatic, and Resources Research and Development Consortium (ILAARRDEC), and Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (PCAARRD), the activity ran with lectures, open forum, and hands-on application.
Lecturers of the training-seminar were: Prof. Charlie Batin, STCBF project leader (Nursery Establishment, Field Planting, and Management); Engr. Jose A. Zarafalla, STCBF project staff (Bamboo Processing); Mr. Perry Agbayani of DTI-Ilocos Norte (Potential of Bamboo Business enterprise); and Prof. Charito Julian, faculty member of the College of Business, Economics, and Accountancy (Business Sustainability).
