img_1626_400As part of the technology promotion activity of the Techno Gabay Program on the establishment of Farmers Information and Technology Services (FITS) Center, a technical briefing on “High Yielding Technology Adoption (HYTA) and Rice Crop Manager (RCM) and Launching of FITS Center” was conducted by the Local Government of Rosario, La Union thru the Municipal Agriculture Office on April 23, 2015.

Attended by local farmers in the municipality and guests from other government agencies, one of the highlights of the said activity was the formal launching of the Rosario FITS Center located at the Municipal Library. The facility will serve as one stop information shop wherein walk-in clients such as farmers can now have the opportunity to access latest technology and information in agriculture, aquatic, and other various fields. FITS Center is one of the modalities of Techno-Gabay Program initiated by PCAARRD previously and now handled by ATI.

On the same date, signing of the Memorandum of Agreement was held to formalize the start of the program at the Mayor’s Office led by Hon. Bellarmin Flores III together with ATI-RTC 1 Director Dr. Rogelio Evangelista, ATI-RTC1 Information Officer II/e-Extension Coordinator Ms. Maricel Dacapias, ILAARRDEC Consortium Director Dr. Prima Fe R. Franco, and Municipal Agriculture Officer Mr. Rudy Fernandez. Moreover, an initial budget amounting to 100,000 in the form of check, was also provided by ATI to the LGU.

The success of the launching was made possible through the collaborative efforts between the Ilocos Agriculture, Aquatics and Resources Research and Development Consortium (ILAARRDEC), Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center 1 (ATI-RTC1) and the Municipal Agriculture Office (MAO) Rosario, La Union.

The center was evaluated last April 8, 2015 conducted by ATI-RTC1 and ILAARRDEC before its approval for establishment.
