Santa FITS Center formally launched
It’s been two years since the proposed Farmers Information and Technology Services (FITS) Center of Santa, Ilocos Sur was evaluated on April 11, 2013. Now, it was formally launched during the Aldaw Dagiti Bannuar program organized by the local government unit of Santa headed by Hon. Mayor Jeremy Jesus Bueno III last April 29, 2015.
Highlights of the activity are the awarding and turn-over of financial assistance for the establishment of the FITS Center; MOA signing between ATI-RTC 1, ILAARRDEC, ISPSC, and LGU-Santa; and cutting of the ribbon ceremony for the opening of their FITS Center.
During the opening program, Municipal Agriculture Officer Ms. Aurora Austria welcomed the guests and participants of the activity followed by inspirational messages from Mayor Bueno III, SP members Jeremy Singson (representing Hon. Cong. Eric Singson) and Pablito Sanidad, Jr. (representing Hon. Gov. Ryan Luis Singson), ATI-RTC1 Director Dr. Rogelio Evangelista, and ILAARRDEC Program Leader Prof. Love Grace Campano (representing ILAARRDEC Consortium Director Dr. Prima Fe R. Franco)
Attended by local farmers of the town and other guests, the establishment of the FITS Center will served as one stop information shop of latest technologies and information in agriculture, aquatic, and other fields that could cater the needs of its clients.
Santa FITS Center is the 76th center established in Region 1 and the fourth center being handled by ATI-RTC1 since the Techno Gabay Program was transferred to them. Moreover, ISPSC will be the partner-member agency of the center that will monitors and assists their future activities.
