Skills Training on Tomato Production and Storage held

img_8028_400The Ilocos Agriculture, Aquatic, and Resources Research and Development Consortium (ILAARRDEC) together with its partner agencies the Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) and the Local Government Unit of Solsona thru its Municipal Agriculture Office jointly conducted a skills training on tomato production and storage. Held at the conference room of the munical hall on June 3, 2016.

This event is part of the promotional activities of the PhilRAA-funded Project of Magsasaka Siayentista (MS) Mr. Nestor Acosta entitled "Ensuring the Year-Round Supply of Quality Tomato Production Thru S&T Interventions" since the said project cannot conduct a farmers' field day due to virus incident affected at the demo site in Brgy. Buyon, Bacarra, Ilocos Norte.

 Attended by almost 55 participants composed of local farmers, housewives, and other guests, the skills training aims to showcase the good farming practices in tomato production as well as in storage technique.

img_8041_400MS Acosta and its technical expert Prof. Maura Luisa S. Gabriel of MMSU served as the keynote speaker of the said event. MS Acosta discussed his farming experiences in vegetable production while Prof. Gabriel presented the topics on Tomato Production and Storage Method thru the use of Rice Straw. After each discussion, the participants had the chance to raised their querries on the said topics and the speakers were also able to provide answers to their questions.

img_8063_400Municipal Agriculture Officer and Engr. Ranison Narciso warmly welcomed the participants as well as guests from the said agencies. Meanwhile, Prof. Love Grace Campano, Program Leader of ILAARRDEC as well as Project Leader of the PhilRAA Project provided the rationale of the said activity. 

img_8083_400At the end of the activity, Engr. Narciso acknowledged the active participation of the farmers and also the guests and resource speakers for providing their assistance in upholding the said skills training.
